The Dreaded Bloody Nipple SyndromeThe race cameras caught up with Ottawa's Dave Bush at the National Capital Marathon in 2007, and the sight at the finish line wasn't pretty! Dave tells iRunNation what happened in his own words:"I guess my shirt was too tight and the band-aid had fallen off my nipple, probably because I had put runner's glide on first. This likely caused the band-aid to not stick and exposed my nipple. I tried many times to replace the band-aid, but it's actually hard to do when you're running and slightly embarrassing. Even though I was wearing a "dry fit" shirt, the constant rubbing caused me to bleed by the end of the race. I posted this picture on my Facebook page with the caption, "Someone shot me in the left nipple!" Despite his sore nipple, Dave says he had a good race. "The pain subsided after a while and I didn't really notice it," he recalls. "I think it looks worse than it really is." And the solution he now swears by to prevent bloody nipples? Duct tape! |
