How to Have Fun with Your Race PhotoWhen we saw this shot of Catherine Moher goofing around at the Cumberland Duathlon, we thought, "now there's someone who knows how to have fun in her race photos." Then we checked the results. As it turns out, for all her goofing, Catherine also managed to win her age group. In her own words, Catherine shares her secrets for having fun in your race pics and keeping just a hint of a competitive edge with iRun. "You can't take racing too seriously — I just enjoy it. Instead of taking myself too seriously, I just ham it up. "It was a bit of a joke, actually. The photographers were everywhere, so in part I did it to deal with nervousness of having my picture taken. I don't like to pose too seriously in regular photos, either. It's not a model shoot, after all. So we have pictures of me around the world posing with crossed eyes. It's the cross-eyed peace sign. It's a trademark.
"I don't race really competitively or anything. It was totally for fun, I signed up a long time ago to keep myself motivated during the winter. But I saw one girl ahead of me near the end and thought, 'what if she's doing the same race as me? I would be so disappointed if I didn't go for it. 'So I passed her in the final sprint. There were only three of us in the age group — it's not the world's biggest accomplishment. "I just love to get out there and stay fit and have fun. It brings me great joy." |
